Bury Parish Community Land Trust brings local people together around the future of our parish. The trust’s focus is affordable rented homes, with local voices helping guide the direction.
A Community Land Trust is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that looks after land and community assets for long-term local benefit. Volunteers and members help turn that purpose into practical action.
How the trust began.
Following discussions with Chichester District Council and other local organisations, Bury Parish Council supported the formation of a Community Led Housing Steering Group. Its purpose was to establish a Community Land Trust and give local people a stronger voice in the future of housing in the parish.
The original website named parish councillors Richard Champness, Karen Davis, Graham Morrison and Gemma Driver among the steering group, alongside other local residents. This describes the group’s beginnings, rather than a current committee list.
A local voice. A lasting benefit.
The ambition is to help people with a connection to Bury Parish find homes they can afford, while respecting the place and community around them. Affordable rented housing is the trust’s main focus.
The CLT initiative is intended to be independent of the parish and district councils, with local people helping shape its work. For the current committee, registration details and governing documents, please contact the trust.
