Listening comes first.
The Bury Housing Needs Survey was commissioned by the Community Land Trust to understand local housing needs and views on affordable homes. The survey ran from 17 September to 20 October 2025.
What our community told us
- 164 households responded — a response rate of around 59%.
- 71% of respondents supported an affordable housing scheme for local people; 14% were against and 15% expressed no preference.
- 47 households were looking to move, most of whom were owner occupiers. This is not a count of households needing affordable housing.
- The report identified the greatest need for two- and three-bedroom homes.
These findings describe survey respondents, not all parish residents. Not everyone answered every question, and percentages are rounded. The report does not claim to measure all housing need in the parish.

Our aim is to support affordable rented homes that serve local needs. Sustainability, good design and long-term community benefit are part of the conversation.
Sustainable in every sense.
Homes need to work for their residents, their surroundings and the organisation caring for them. Our approach considers financial sustainability alongside energy use, design, materials and the long-term cost of maintaining homes.
We want to explore environmentally responsible building practices and suitable green technologies wherever practical. Local knowledge can help us understand which ideas fit the landscape and needs of the parish.
Working with local partners.
Landowners, local employers, developers and community organisations all have a part to play. We welcome conversations about land, housing, local employment and ways to make a project useful to the wider community.
